MR Grade IS : 303 Made with 100% Hard Wood
IS 303 plywood, as per Indian Standards, defines plywood intended for general-purpose use. It’s categorized into Moisture Resistant (MR) and Boiling Water Resistant (BWR) grades based on its water resistance capabilities. MR grade, also known as commercial plywood, uses Urea Formaldehyde resin for bonding and offers resistance to moisture and humidity to a certain extent, making it suitable for indoor applications like furniture, cabinets, and wall paneling in areas not directly exposed to water
Gurjan CORE, BWP, Marine grade, IS: 710
IS 710 plywood, also known as marine-grade plywood, is a high-quality, boiling waterproof (BWP) plywood specifically designed to withstand prolonged exposure to water and moisture without delamination or degradation. 1 The “IS” signifies that it adheres to the Indian Standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), with “710” being the specific code for this grade of plywood. Originating primarily in India due to the strong domestic plywood industry and the need for durable materials in varying climatic conditions, IS 710 plywood is manufactured using selected hardwood veneers bonded with undiluted Phenol Formaldehyde (PF) resin under high pressure and temperature.
IS 1659
A blockboard is a type of engineered wood panel similar to plywood, but with a core made of solid softwood strips (like pine) laid edge to edge and bonded together with adhesive. This core is then sandwiched between one or more layers of wood veneer. IS 1659 is an Indian Standard that specifically covers blockboards. When a blockboard is designated as “IS 1659 block board pine,” it signifies that the core of the blockboard is made from pine wood and that it adheres to the quality and manufacturing specifications outlined in the IS 1659 standard.
Film-Faced Shuttering Plywood
Film-faced shuttering plywood is a high-grade engineered wood panel specifically designed for concrete formwork applications. Its defining characteristic is the smooth, durable film (typically made of phenolic or melamine resin-impregnated paper) bonded to one or both faces of the plywood core. 1 This film provides exceptional resistance to water, abrasion, and alkali, all of which are prevalent in concrete construction environments. The core of film-faced shuttering plywood is usually constructed from hardwood veneers, such as eucalyptus or poplar, bonded with a water-resistant adhesive like Phenol Formaldehyde (PF) resin, ensuring high strength and dimensional stability under the pressure of wet concrete.

Silver Oak Patti
While “Silver Oak Patti” isn’t a standard or widely recognized technical term in the context of RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) work like “shuttering plywood,” it generally refers to battens or runners made from Silver Oak wood used in formwork or other temporary support structures.
In terms of quality, Silver Oak is a medium-density hardwood known for its moderate strength, durability, and good workability. It’s relatively resistant to weather and termites, making it suitable for repeated use in construction, provided it’s handled and stored properly. However, it’s generally not as water-resistant or as strong as some specialized formwork plywood.
Burma Teak Wood (BTC Wood) - All Types
In terms of quality, BTC wood, being Burma Teak, is generally considered to be of premium quality. Teak is naturally rich in oils that make it highly resistant to water, decay, and insect infestations, including termites. This inherent durability makes it an excellent choice for furniture that needs to last for generations. It is also known for its dimensional stability, meaning it is less likely to warp, shrink, or swell with changes in humidity and temperature. The wood has a beautiful golden-brown color that naturally deepens with age, often exhibiting a straight grain pattern, although it can sometimes be wavy or interlocked.
